Enjoy a guided visit to one of the most fascinating museums in Florence - an unmissable opportunity.

Reopened after a long restoration period that ended October 2015, the Museo dell'Opera opens a window on the history of the Cathedral and its architectural complex, reflecting seven centuries of history.

Initiated in 1296 by order of the Republic of Florence under the influence of Arnolfo di Cambio, construction of the cathedral was a huge undertaking of great importance, attracting the creative contributions of many of the greatest geniuses of the city - Donatello, Ghiberti, Brunelleschi, Michelangelo, Luca della Robbia, Andrea Pisano, Nanni di Banco, and many more of perhaps lesser fame, but no less importance in the fabric of the artistic legacy of Florence.
