Comic Opera: The Servant Turned Mistress

Experience an entire performance at the sumptuous Doria Pamphilj Palace, a prestigious venue nestled in the heart of the historic center, presented by the company “Teatro dell’Opera buffa,” which specializes in performing masterpieces of traditional Italian opera. La serva padrona (The Servant Turned Mistress) is a highlight of the opera buffa (Comic Opera) tradition, and a product of the genius of Giovan Battista Pergolesi (1710 – 1736). The delightful work is only 45 minutes long, as it was originally performed as an intermezzo between the acts of a longer, more serious opera.

La serva padrona (The Servant Turned Mistress) is the story of Serpina, a young, clever, and ambitious servant who manages to make her master, Uberto, marry her while using Vespone, another servant, to play her tricks. The funny and lively story is staged in the superb Throne Hall, the perfect set for this baroque delight. The Throne Hall is part of the private apartments of the Princess Doria Pamphilj - who will attend the performance as a special guest, seated on stage in the place of honour.

“Il Teatro dell’Opera buffa,“ is a group of singers, actors, musicians, set designers, and costumers who offer performances of the highest artistic standard for unique and unforgettable experience that will stay in your memory forever.
