Accessible Rome

Discover Rome's treasures without physical barriers on this private tour for groups of people with disabilities and their assistants. See the Colosseum and the Via dei Fori Imperiali, enjoy a delicious lunch, and see Tiber Island and the Jewish Ghetto – all along a wheelchair accessible route.

Your tour begins with an easy visit to the Colosseum – along ramps and using elevators. The Colosseum is probably the most famous monument in the world. With its height of 48 meters (157 feet), the colossal elliptical structure has fascinated humans throughout history. Construction of the Colosseum was begun under Vespasian as a symbol of the grandeur of the Roman Empire and to satisfy the people's appetite for entertainment. It was inaugurated by Emperor Titus in the year 80 AD. The Colosseum could host up to 50,000 people, and the opening games lasted 3 months, involving about 2,000 gladiators and 9,000 animals.

The Via dei Fori Imperiali is the most important example of Ancient Rome. This large avenue passes the excavations of the Roman Forum and Trajan's Market on the right, leading to the silhouette of the Vittoriano, a monument built in honour of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy.

At this point in your tour it will be time for lunch, which you have the option to include in your tour price (8.00 € per person).

In the afternoon, you'll head over to the Tiber. The area of the ghetto was located in an area close to the frequently flooding river Tiber, near the Tiberine island. Today, this historically rich part of Rome can be found between the Via del Portico d'Ottavia, the Lungotevere dei Cenci, the Via del Progresso and the Via di Santa Maria del Pianto close to the Tiber and the Theater of Marcellus.
