La Belle Époque Turin

The Valentino Park, largest park of the city, extends along the left bank of the Po River, overlooking the green hills of Turin. Within its bounds, you will find the 17th century Valentino Castle, summer residence given as a gift by the Duke to his French wife, the Royal Madame Christine Marie of France. The park also contains the so-called "Medieval Village," built as a pavilion for the General Exhibition of 1884, the result of positivist culture and of the Belle Époque.

Your tour then continues with a bus ride onto the hills of Turin where you’ll see some Liberty style masterpieces, including Villa Scott by architect Pietro Fenoglio. This golden work of art is famous also for having been the location for some scenes from the 1975 horror movie “Deep Red” by Dario Argento.

Your visit continues across the neoclassical Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the Church of the Great Mother, to reach the 19th century district “Cit Turin” (“Little Turin” in Piedmontese dialect). You’ll continue on foot past gorgeous bourgeois residences in Floral Liberty style to the charming outdoor market in Piazza Benfica, the heart of the district, where you can stroll between the stands.
