The castle of San Salvatore was built by the counts Collalto in the second half of the 13th century. Over the centuries, the castle was transformed from a medieval fortress to a stately home. In 1700, Count Odoardo, aspiring to the office of doge, added a splendid palace in Venetian style to the castle. The castle overlooks the town of Treviso and the Veneto plain all the way to the lagoon.
Borgoluce is the home of the Collalto family who manages the land surrounding the castle of San Salvatore. The uniqueness of the estate lies in the agrarian landscape, which has remained unchanged for centuries. Its farm and vineyards produce high quality products - beef, dairy, sausages (among them the celebrated “Sopressa Trevigiana” sausage), honey, baked goods, nuts, cherries, etc. - and wines, including Italy’s champagne, Prosecco.
