Como Lake Tour Description

Summer tour (April to October):

After your 1-hour bus journey from Milan, start your tour of Como by visiting the elegant historic center of this lakeside city. Enjoy some free time to get to know the town and shop in the many local boutiques.

Your tour continues with a 2-hour cruise on the lake. The lakeside villas are famous the world over (George Clooney and many other VIPs are homeowners here) - keep an eye out for Villa d'Este at Cernobbio, a luxurious hotel set in tropical gardens.

The neo-classical Villa Olmo is an imposing building on the lake shore. Once the summer residence of the aristocratic marquis Odescalchi, it is nowadays owned by the city of Como and open to visitors who enjoy the changing exhibitions and picturesque walks through its gardens.

Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, an abundance of exotic and rare plants thrive year round.

Your boat will dock at the town of Bellagio, undoubtedly the most famous resort on the lake – justly called the “Pearl of the Lake.” It is situated on the tip of the promontory dividing the lake into the two branches of Como and Lecco. Thanks to this particular location, there is an extraordinary variety of panoramas with views ranging across the lake in every direction. Bellagio is also famous for the wonderful villas, with their parks and beautiful gardens in Italian or English style. Spend some time at your leisure here before your cruise continues to Cadenabbia and then to your bus for the journey back to Milan.

Winter tour (November to March):

After your 1-hour bus journey from Milan, start your guided walking tour of Como with a visit to the Basilica of Sant’Abbondio, an ancient basilica in Romanesque style that was consecrated in 1095 AD.

Your tour continues on a 1-hour cruise on the lake. The lakeside villas are famous the world over (George Clooney and many other VIPs are homeowners here) - keep an eye out for Villa d'Este at Cernobbio, a luxurious hotel set in tropical gardens.

In the afternoon, a steep ride on the funicular railway from Como to the town of Brunate awaits you. Brunate enjoys a breathtaking view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Enjoy a stroll around town and stop for a coffee or gelato.

On your return to Como, continue into the historic center. Como is a city easy to explore on foot. The historic center, between the old medieval walls is full of delightful corners, monuments, and shops.
