Guided tour of the historic centre of Matera, and especially the “Sassi” neighborhoods with their well-known prehistoric dwellings carved directly into the rock. Thanks to them, Matera is known as "City of the Sassi" and "Underground City", and belongs to the list of the oldest still inhabited cities in the world. The “Sassi’ were inhabited from prehistoric times until the 1950s.
