Tommaso Pestelli : Handmade objects and jewelry in the style of the famous early 20th century Pestelli production, as well as antique-style objets d’art for the home and restorations of any kind of metal object.

Tommaso Pestelli was born in Florence on 19 October 1969. He is the latest heir of a family of goldsmith-jewelers, which has been active in Florence since 1908 when Edoardo Pestelli began his activity as a goldsmith creating the foundation of the present firm. Tommaso Pestelli's professional training took place in the family workshop, under the guidance of his father Luigi and master Tonino Batacchi, who guided him in the study and elaboration of the Florentine jewelry tradition. He studied at the State Art Institute of Porta Romana in Florence, at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, where he obtained a diploma in sculpture, and finally at the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, where he qualified as a restorer in the sector of glyptics and the goldsmith’s art. Thanks to such experiences, he was able to evolve his own personal style: an expression of tradition in the expert choice of the materials and their workmanship, and of formal research in the study of the concept of the object itself. Tommaso Pestelli now creates the most surprising furnishing accessories, made of gold, silver and precious stones. These works are absolutely unique, inspired by the taste and the atmosphere of the past and superbly suited to an exclusive, modern cabinet of wonders. In his workshop he creates sophisticated jewels, and also performs restoration for the Fine Art Commission. His articles have been displayed at numerous fairs and shows.

Manetti e Masini : Reproduction and restoration of ancient majolicas

The artisan workshop Manetti & Masini has been involved in the making and restoration of ceramics for over fifty years. The workshop's particular specialization resides in the reproduction of antique pieces, employing unique techniques such as the use of special materials for enameling and aging, which make the pieces exactly like the original in every detail. The workshop also carries out restorations, which has permitted the artisans to study the original majolica in depth, with special regard to the Italian ones. The showroom boasts a varied collection of approximately three thousand samples, including plates, pitchers, stoves, tiles, vases, jugs, soup tureens, holy images, tables, decorative fruit wreaths, and animals.

Argenteria Pagliai: Antique silverware restorations and reproduction, silverware

Across the river in the Oltrarno district, next to the 14th century tower-house of the noble Sapiti family, there is a building with vaulted ceilings, carved columns and stone walls, whose stout wooden door and hinges recall those of medieval craftsmen’s workshops. It is here that Paolo Pagliai, silversmith and restorer, plies his craft.
The Pagliai family have always worked in Oltrarno: initially, father Orlando started in Costa San Giorgio in 1930, then in Piazza de’ Rossi, and from 1980, in the medieval part of Borgo San Jacopo, opposite the Romanesque church of San Jacopo Soprarno, in an area that escaped the bombs during the Second World War, thus keeping its old-world charm. Crossing the threshold of this shop, one really does feel oneself entering a "Renaissance studio" where Messer Paolo Pagliai oversees and works with his staff, demanding perfection from each task.
These master craftsmen use ancient techniques of metalworking and restoration, which maintain the integrity and individuality of the most precious of objects. Paolo Pagliai’s workshop is a point of reference for antiquarians, collectors, and loyal customers from all over Italy. His ability to reconstruct missing parts of antique objects, using lost wax casting and engraving chisels to reproduce antique cutlery in refractory ore. The quality of his productions are legendary. All this, plus the friendly and welcoming environment make this workshop tour especially rewarding.
