Mini Cruise on the Orbetello Lagoon
Mini Cruise on the Orbetello Lagoon
Step on board the boat “Remus” and enjoy the natural beauty, the landscape, and experience the atmosphere of the town from the water. As you glide along the calm waters of the lagoon, your guide will give you an introduction to traditional fishing techniques and the local production of fishing products in their historical and social context. You may even catch a glimpse of fishermen working on their little boats.
The lagoon is home to the Life Project, founded by the European Union with the aim of protecting and preserving important landscapes and species. The lagoon has the shape of a trapezoid, with as its bases the coast and the Argentario promontory and as its sides two sand banks (Tomboli): the Feniglia and the Giannella. The lagoon itself is divided in two parts: the Eastern and the Western lagoon with an isthmus in the middle - partially natural and partially man made - the town of Orbetello lies here, suspended between land and sea.
