Florence Churches: Santo Spirito, Santa Felicità and Ognissanti
This is not your first visit to Florence or you would like to deepen your knowledge of the city by discovering art treasures of the Renaissance not included on the main tourist routes?
This private tour itinerary takes you to three churches (Ognissanti, Santa Felicità, Santo Spirito) that were built or decorated by some of the most famous Italian artists - such as Filippo Brunelleschi, Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Michelangelo, Pontormo, and many more.
Visiting these churches is usually relaxing and easy because they are not overcrowded with large tourist groups often found in the main museums and monuments of Florence. For this reason visiting these churches will enable you to connect more deeply with the spirit of the masterpieces.
Your tour begins at the church of Ognissanti, the Franciscan church dedicated to all saints known and unknown. Here, your guide will introduce the frescoes painted by Domenico Ghirlandaio and Sandro Botticelli. The latter is also buried in this church, near his beloved Simonetta Vespucci, the woman who was the model for many of his paintings.
Your tour continues in the Oltrarno district (opposite bank of the river Arno) with the church of Santa Felicità, probably the oldest church of the city after San Lorenzo. The Vasari Corridor passes through the facade of this church where you will see one of the main masterpieces of the troubled master of the Mannerist style, Pontormo - the Deposition altarpiece.
Your tour ends in the church of Santo Spirito, cornerstone of the art of the Renaissance, built by Filippo Brunelleschi. It also houses an early wooden crucifix by the seventeen year old Michelangelo, moving in its immediate simplicity.
In order to avoid penalties, Città Nascosta must receive written communication of cancellation at least 10 working days in advance of the date fixed for the tour.
