Combo Ticket Colle Val d’Elsa "Colle Alta Museums"
Housed in the monumental complex of the San Pietro monastery, the Museo San Pietro is the result of the merger of the Civic and Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art with the collection of the Conservatory of St. Peter, the Romano Bilenchi collection and the collection of Walter Fusi.
The exhibition itinerary traces the history of the city through the expressions of art, in a constant dialogue between religiosity and civic ambition of the medieval towns.
On the first floor, the visit begins with the exposition of sacred works of art that tell the path of faith in Valdelsa, from the origins to the birth of the Diocese of Colle, to continue with the civic collections of works dating from the 19th and 20th century with the work of Antonio Salvetti and Walter Fusi.
The section dedicated to the collection of Romano Bilenchi, which proposes a selection of the rich library of the writer from Colle Val d’Elsa is particularly significant, as are the works of Ottone Rosai, Moses Levy and Mino Maccari by its side.
The layout of the museum, punctuated by the great historical events, tries to capture and illustrate the moments in which the artistic language becomes an expression of the culture of the people of Colle Val d’Elsa, and of their faith.
