Day Tour Verona, Garda Lake and Sirmione
Sit back and relax as your bus leaves the city of Milan, driving towards the north east, along the foothills of the majestic Alps. After a trip of about two hours, you'll arrive in Verona where your guide will take you on a visit to some of the main sites of this magnificent city, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Three of Shakespeare's plays are set in beautiful Verona (Romeo and Juliet, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and The Taming of the Shrew), and your two-hour guided walking tour begins by following in the footsteps of his characters, and see the Juliet’s balcony, from where she greeted Romeo. You'll have the opportunity to visit the imposing Roman Arena from the 1st century AD, where concerts and operas are performed during the summer. You will also have free time to explore the narrow medieval streets and the Renaissance palaces that make up Verona’s historic centre.
The stunning lakeside towns around Lake Garda have fascinated visitors for centuries. The first people to fall in love with the area were the Romans, who made it a luxurious summer destination; and in Sirmione you can visit ruins and mosaics, traces of their presence.
Sirmione, which lies between the blue waters of Lake Garda and green olive trees, is undoubtedly one of the most romantic places on earth and its beauty has been praised by Roman poet Catullus since the early days. Visit the narrow medieval streets that burst with colour, the moated castle, Rocca Scaligera, or take a stroll through the town’s most striking attraction, the grand Roman villa. Here you can admire the remainders of the walls and archaeological delights, including a charming carving of rabbits in the small museum.
