Villa Tiepolo Passi for individual visitors guided by the Count

A splendid illustration of a post-Palladian Venetian Villa in rich Venetian Baroque style, Villa Tiepolo Passi is situated outside Treviso, close to Venice (40 km/25 miles). The Villa dates from the early 17th century, yet achieved its present size throughout the following century because of Ermolao Tiepolo, Procurator of San Marco and Senator of the Venetian Republic. By the middle of the 18th century, the Villa - which many artistis had notably changed and decorated over time - goes to the Counts Passi de Preposulo, a famous family from Bergamo, who still lives there today. Frescoes from the 17th century by Pietro Antonio Cerva (called "il Bolognese") decorate some of the rooms on the main floor.

Villa Tiepolo Passi looks out over a rich Italian garden with fish lake and statuary by Torretto (whose most famous pupil might well have been Canova, who completed the sculptures seen here). The statues punctuate the perspective layout of the grounds. The edges of the picturesque English park are dotted by hills, caverns and old trees. The private chapel boasts a roof with frescoes by Giovan Battista Tiepolo Canal and school. The visit closes with a tasting of organic products from the Villa Tiepolo Passi farm at the old stables.
